Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Discovery, is putting in some non-Star Trek work on the big screen.

A new film, directed by Joseph Sorrentino, called MK Ultra is scheduled to release on December 31st.

The movie will be Sorrentino’s first big-name film, although the director is responsible for a 2008 film called The Sacrament of Life and a documentary, Coyote.

MK Ultra, a thriller, is described by IMDb like this:

Set during the true and unconscionable Central Intelligence Agency MK ULTRA drug experimentations in the early 1960s, MIDNIGHT CLIMAX follows the journey of Ford Strauss, a brilliant psychiatrist, whose moral and scientific boundaries are pushed to the limit as he is recruited to run a subsect of the program in a rural Mississippi Mental Hospital.

Co-starring with Mount is Jaime Ray Newman from the current Hulu series Dopesick, along with Jason Patric, known for lead roles in Sleepers (1996) and Narc (2002).

It is unclear if MK Ultra will hit theaters or stream. And, the release date of December 31 should be considered tentative.

And, a final note, Season Four of Star Trek: Discovery hits Paramount Plus on November 18.
