William Shatner's Crewmate from Last Month, Glen de Vries, Tragically Passes Away

Tragedy struck on Thursday when Glen de Vries, who joined Star Trek’s William Shatner in space last month, died in a small plane accident.

de Vries was 49.

Shatner made history in October, claiming the title “oldest man in outer space,” while de Vries was on board as well.

Another man, Thomas Fischer, 54, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, also passed away with de Vries.

de Vries was the co-CEO of MediData Solutions, a company he co-founded in 1999.

The tragedy is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
